Soviet and Russian scientist, specialist in the field of oil&gas geology and geochemistry. Winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology.
Greatly contributed to the creation of modern methods for forecasting oil and gas bearing capacity, to the development of mathematical methods for such a forecast for various geological and informational situations, which made it possible to improve radically the methodology of prospective planning for exploration and oil and gas production in large regions. The studies contributed to the successful search and exploration of oil and gas resources, creation of a new raw material base in the south of Eastern Siberia (Nepsko-Botuobinskya anteclise). Participated in development of comprehensive development programs for exploration in East and West Siberia and Yakutia in 1970s-1980s.
Headed a group, which made a number of major generalizations on the geology and oil and gas potential of the West Siberian Plate and the Siberian Platform, assessed its oil and gas potential, and substantiated the main directions of exploration in these regions. An important achievement of Aleksey Emilievich is the scientific substantiation of significant prospects of Precambrian oil and gas potential made together with academician A. A. Trofimuk and other scientists and the proof of the correctness of this forecast on the example of the Siberian platform.
One of the active organizers of science in Siberia: the founder of the SB RAS Institute of Oil and Gas Geology in Novosibirsk and the Institute of Oil and Gas Problems in Yakutsk. In recent years, he has been dealing with the problems of regional geology and geochemistry of the platform regions of Siberia. Takes an active part in the development of the energy strategy of Russia: “The Strategy for the Economic Development of Siberia”, “The Energy Strategy of Russia until 2010”, “The Energy Strategy of Russia until 2020”, “The Strategy for the Social and Economic Development of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Territory”.11.
