Impact of stress-strain state of the pipeline on the limit state of the pipeline

Abstract: The normative approach to the pipelines strength assessment has been estimated (using design stresses). Adjusted theoretical approach has been developed, which considers the stages of elastic and elastic-plastic strain and impact of the stress state on the peculiarities of limit states achievement during destruction. The impact of three-dimensional stress state on the change of resistance to plastic strains formation using the first main stress increase factor at meeting the conditions of plastic strain start. Generation of three dimensional stress state causes the change of resistance to plastic strains formation. It also manifests itself not only at the stage of plastic strains formation, but on destructive (limit) strains. The impact of the second main tensile stress on reduction of destructive (limit) strains has been investigated. At generation of threedimensional stress state the danger of quasi-brittle and brittle fractures of the pipelines increases. These circumstances must be considered at calculation of the pipelines strength and durability under strain criteria.
