Abstract:
Introduction. The study shows directions of using technical means of petroleum products supply on the basis of polymeric materials in the absence or with limited availability of transportation communications. An assessment of the main drawbacks and limitations in the use of technical means of petroleum products supply is given on the basis of nitrile rubber. The main approaches to development and modification of promising polymeric materials are indicated.
Materials and methods. There are considered features of the methods of formulation, chemical and physical modification. An experimental assessment of efficiency of the use of various technologies is provided for modification of polymers used in the production of technical means.
Study results. The minimum permeability was obtained for a material made of a mixture of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) based on simple and complex polyesters in a ratio of 30/70 respectively.
It was chemically modified with a method of LDPE surface treatment with a mixture of fluorine and helium in a ratio of 10/90, respectively, with oxygen content in the reactor of less than 2.5%. The proposed content of fluorine and helium provides control of the thickness of a modified surface layer.
The optimal irradiation time and the distance between the polymer and the irradiation source during the radiation modification are determined. The source of γ-radiation is the cobalt-60 isotope. The absorption coefficient of γ-radiation of LDPE is 0,064 cm-1.
Conclusions. 1. Reduced permeability of polymers and their increased fuel resistance are achieved using the technology of formulation modification associated with the mixing of TPU and the technology of polyethylene fluorination. 2. The developed technologies for polymer modification increase the service life of technical means in 1,52 times.
