Search of engineering solutions for berthing facilities corrosion protection

Abstract: In order to protect marine structures corrosion cathodic protection with sacrificial anodes is widely used along with anticorrosion coatings. While having some advantages, it also has drawbacks, and in the world practice, more and more often technical solutions are applied with the use of external current sources for the cathodic polarization of metal structures operated in sea water.
Currently, cathodic protection systems with sacrificial anodes on offshore facilities are at the stage of depletion of the working resource or are approaching such a state. With the technical re-equipment of the electrochemical protection systems of the operated and newly designed Transneft harbour and jetty facilities, the issue of studying of the experience of domestic and foreign operating organizations, selecting technical solutions, equipment and materials, developing of requirements for manufacturers for inclusion in the Register of the primary product types becomes urgent.
