Abstract: Equipment quality plays a special role in ensuring its reliability. One can avoid poor-quality products at production facilities in case the manufacturer complies with the requirements of government standards, building codes and regulations, technical specifications, etc. However, it is quite a challenge to control how the manufacturer complies with all these requirements.
The authors have analyzed approaches to the development of a mathematical tool that performs quantitative and qualitative prediction of equipment failures, assessment of its current readiness for operation and determination of the optimal workloads to ensure compliance with the principles of maximum reliability and durability.
Based on the research results approaches for quantitative prediction of equipment failures have been developed and described and can be introduced into the existing conformity assessment system because of sufficient amount of statistical data on equipment operation that had been accumulated by Transneft over the past decade.

Keywords: conformity assessment, reliability, product quality, equipment failure prediction, mathematical tool, oil pump.
