Abstract: The main trends in the development of the electricity market are outlined: decentralization and intellectualization, development of small generation and optimization of the use of electric energy. Special attention is paid to the key technologies and areas in the sphere of energy systems management, determining the development of renewable energy sources and small generation, such as smart networks, cybersecurity, improvement of automated information and measurement systems and signal transmission technologies, updating the standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission, the introduction of new high-speed primary devices and distributed generation. Global and regional pressures in the sphere of methods and means for energy systems management, their impact on the socio-economic field and solutions through innovation are analyzed. The possibilities of introduction into the electricity market of renewable energy sources, replacing traditional sources of power generation and consequences of such a course for the fuel and energy complex of Russia are considered.
