Abstract: The conditions of plastic fracture are obtained and the analysis of the carrying capacity of the pipeline with a circumferential defect with combined loading by bending moment, longitudinal force and internal pressure is carried out. For analysis, a simple analytical dependence of the limiting bending moment on the internal pressure and axial force is obtained. The results of analytical calculations are compared with the results of numerical modeling of the carrying capacity of a pipeline with a circumferential defect by the finite element method. Satisfactory compliance of the calculation results was obtained. It is shown that the obtained ratio can be used in constructing a crack resistance diagram for assessing the strength of a pipeline with an circumferential crack-like defect.
On the basis of the diagram of crack resistance the strength of circumferential joints with defects is analyzed at various combinations of geometrical parameters of defects, mechanical properties of metal joints and operational loads and influences. The developed methodology allows to carry out the analysis of durability of pipelines with circumferential defects for all combinations of the specified parameters occurring at operation and repair.
